Overview

The 88th Legislative Session has really stirred things up in Texas! With so many new ingredients added to the pot of planning legislation, it's no wonder that many are left wondering where to even begin. But don't worry, my dear friends, because our three supernatural witches are here to help! They'll be opening up the potion book and mixing together different approaches to HB 3699 and 3697 to reform platting, stitching patchwork quilts of ETJs through SB 2038, and exploring what it means for counties as much as cities. They'll also be getting the nonconformities message out on SB 929, ensuring your fees are calibrated and adopted appropriately, and showing you how to address 3rd party approvals under HB 14. And that's not all! They'll be delving into a wide variety of other bills, from parkland fees to Death Stars to the new relationship between state flood plans and funding to climate policies. But wait, there's more! Our witches will also be exploring potion ingredients that the legislature left on the shelf that did not pass, such as zoning reform, building codes, and other forms of preemption. They'll be recommending actions for cities based on those directions, and showing you how to ask your city attorney smart questions (because even supernatural witches have to stay on the right side of State Bar Rules). So don't be afraid, my friends! With the help of our supernatural witches, you'll be able to navigate the new landscape of planning and development in Texas with ease and confidence. Let's get brewing!
