Annika Gunning Yankee, AICP – Planning Manager, City of Corpus Christi Planning Department A native of Corpus Christi, Annika has worked at the City of Corpus Christi for 13 years and is currently a Planning Manager in the Planning Department. While working for the City, Annika spent nine years at City’s Development Services Department in various capacities ranging from guiding developers and business owners through all stages of the development and building permitting process; serving as the City’s zoning administrator in charge of rezonings, variances, and code amendments; facilitating developer-initiated Thoroughfare and Utility Master Plan amendments; and managing the 2014-2016 comprehensive plan update and creation of a new Downtown Area Development Plan. In her current position, she is leading a team of urban planners developing long-range plans for various areas of the Corpus Christi community, processing annexation petitions, and implementing adopted plans. In prior experience, Annika was a Public Involvement Specialist at Olivarri & Associates, a public outreach/involvement consulting firm. Annika has a degree in Urban Studies from Brown University. b. Daniel McGinn, AICP - Director, City of Corpus Christi Planning Department Daniel McGinn, AICP is a seasoned City employee having started with the organization in 2005. He has held positions as City Planner, Project Manager, Land Development Manager, Interim Director of Development Services and Assistant Director of the Planning Department. Mr. McGinn has over 14 years’ experience in municipal planning and development. Aside from his career with the City of Corpus Christi, he has worked in Community and Economic Development for the City of Hudson, Ohio, Deputy Director of Development Services in Victoria, and the City of Sachse’s Director of Community Development. Mr. McGinn is a member of several professional organizations, to include the American Planning Association, Texas APA, and the Texas Floodplain Management Association. His education includes a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Akron, a Bachelor’s of Arts in Geography from Rowan University, along with other educational accomplishments including a Leadership Development Certification through the University of Virginia, and the City’s Career Development Program.
