Overview

This program will show how to facilitate the working relationship between the Planner and Developer. Developers will learn the bases for procedures and key components of land use analysis in development review. Planners will learn Developers’ key components including financing/market influences.

This session will consist of a panel of planners and developers who will describe the experiences of developing major projects in Texas cities.  The objectives are two-fold: (i) provide Developers, and their consultants, with a better understanding of the components involved in reviewing a development project, from the Planner’s perspective, and (ii) provide Planners with a better understanding of the key considerations a Developer faces in undertaking a project.  Planners will detail the customary elements involved in development review focusing on technical planning issues, comprehensive planning, growth management, regulatory frameworks, and political realities of development.  Developers will provide an overview of the development process from the Developer’s perspective including financing and market realities.
