Identify methods of evaluating environmental and social impacts of park plan implementation and formulate an understanding of the role that neighborhood-level environmental monitoring plays in park planning, implementation, and evaluation. Assess health equity integration into park master planning.
The Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department’s 2023 Parks Master Plan leverages strategies from the 10-Minute Walk to a Park Initiative and a Healthy Infrastructure Framework to provide a holistic approach to municipal park planning. Combining vision and direction for parks, trails, and the preservation and enhancement of the urban tree canopy, the plan recognizes the impact that various components of public infrastructure have on physical, mental, and environmental health of the community while also emphasizing the equitable distribution of resources to ensure access for all residents. Using innovative community engagement techniques, a diverse steering committee, consultant expertise from Halff Associates and a partnership with the University of North Texas, the plan employs a social equity model that integrates spatial, demographic, and socio-economic factors to develop implementation priorities and measure the future impact of the healthy infrastructure network.

During this time, I have been responsible for leading dynamic change and implementing organizational improvements to meet the unique needs of the communities I have served. My career began with the Austin Parks & Recreation Department, and I have since pursued opportunities for advancement in Eagle Pass, Corpus Christi, and Lewisville, Texas.
