Overview

This session will follow the content in the AICP prepared material.  Participants will review the need for formal ethical principles, and the contents as well as organization of the AICP Statement of Ethical Principles and Rules of Conduct.  Six scenarios, based on real cases presented to AICP staff and Ethics Committee, will be discussed. 

The framework for decision-making in terms of ethical rules and aspirational principles will be pointed out.  Session participants will be asked to make judgments regarding the ethical nature of the conduct and what, if any, determinations were made regarding punishment.  The actual outcome will then be reviewed.
