The Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association announced the designation of six places as Great Places in Texas.

Great Places in Texas exemplify exceptional character and highlight the role planners and planning play in creating communities of lasting value. This year marks the second year of the Great Places in Texas program, which is modeled from the American Planning Association’s ongoing Great Places in America program.

The 2018 Great Places in Texas are: 

  • Downtown Bryan - Great Neighborhood
  • Downtown San Marcos - Great Neighborhood
  • Fort Worth's Magnolia Avenue - Great Street
  • McAllen's Oval Park - Great Public Space
  • Tyler's Municipal Rose Garden - Great Public Space
  • Waco's Suspension Bridge - Great Public Space
