    Description: PLANNING MANAGER/PLANNING DIRECTOR develops plans and implements programs that affect the achievement of strategic annual objectives.

    ⦁ Prepares analysis, documents and processes for current, short- and long-range planning projects related to land use and development ordinances, annexations, transportation, and other plans as directed.
    ⦁ Clearly communicate technical and policy information, both orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences, including staff, City Council, boards and commission, and the general public.
    ⦁ Solve problems and negotiate with multiple groups and individuals.
    ⦁ Works closely with Executive Director Business & Development Services on long range and strategic planning for the department as well as directs and coordinates the work plan for the Planning Department.
    ⦁ Ability to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, and implement these improvements in a timely manner.
    ⦁ Manages the City’s historic preservation program and projects; serves as the primary staff liaison to the Historic Preservation Commission.
    ⦁ Promotes effective customer relationship development and management to include citizen relationships, as well as internal staff relationships. Works directly with developers, engineers, property owners, etc. on proposed projects.
    ⦁ Reviews reports and make recommendations on zoning change requests and provide analysis and recommendations to the Planning Director and/or Executive Director Business & Development Services.
    ⦁ Prepare responses regarding state statutes, city codes, state law, and other regulations providing supporting materials as required.
    ⦁ Assists with preparation and revisions of any and all annexation plan in accordance with state law, the city charter, and city council resolution.
    ⦁ Collaborates with and acts as a liaison with other departments on planning and development issues.
    ⦁ Acts as Department representative at the Capital Area Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CARTPO), Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) and other meetings as directed.
    ⦁ Other duties as assigned.

    PLANNING DIRECTOR
    ⦁ Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible planning experience is required.
    ⦁ A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience is desirable, preferably in municipal government.
    ⦁ Certification: American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification

    PLANNING MANAGER
    ⦁ Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in city planning.
    ⦁ A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience is desirable, preferably in municipal government.
    ⦁ Certification: American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification
