Planning Director - Lubbock
Lubbock, known as the “The Hub City”, is situated at the center of the scenic South Plains, between the Permian Basin and West Texas Panhandle. Lubbock covers more than 125 square miles and is home to 250,000 residents who enjoy the opportunities of a major metropolitan area with the friendly hospitality and charm of a small community.
The City of Lubbock is a home rule city operating with a council-manager form of government. Lubbock seeks a creative, visionary leader and strategic thinker to be its new Director of Planning.
The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in public administration, urban planning, business administration, or a related field and have five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in the management of diverse municipal functions, professional planning administration, and supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. A valid current driver’s license and certification with the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) are required.
