Active Transportation Planner (Planner III)
The City of Laredo is hiring an Active Transportation Planner (Planner III). This position will be part of the Laredo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) which is currently a division of the City of Laredo Planning and Zoning Department.
One of the Active Transportation Planner’s first and main duties will be the completion and then implementation of an Active Transportation Master Plan for the City, with assistance from fellow MPO staff, planning staff, and consultants.
Plan Viva Laredo, the City’s newly adopted Comprehensive Plan, outlines goals and strategies to significantly improve mobility options for residents, particularly for pedestrians and bicyclists (https://www.cityoflaredo.com/Planning/assets/viva-laredo---city-of-laredo-comprehensive-plan.pdf).

- Salary: $52,665 to $76,377
At least two (2) to four (4) years (depending on education) of progressively responsible experience performing public sector work.
Transportation planning experience in the public or private sector preferred.
- Computer Skills:
Experience with ArcGIS and the Adobe Suite preferred.
- Education Required:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, Environmental Science, Communications, or related field.
At least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in planning, engineering, development (building or construction), managerial analytics, or related field.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning or related field.
At least four (4) of progressively responsible experience in planning, engineering, development (building or construction), managerial analytics, or related field.
