Plan to join APA leaders in the 4th Annual Texas Leadership Forum!  The Texas Leadership Forum will host a series of state and national leaders who will speak on their roles in planning and the professional benefits of being involved with APA. Attendees will also learn about the importance of mentoring and how the Texas Planning Mentorship Program benefits planners in all career stages. Below is a tentative schedule for the afternoon:

APA Leadership Best Practices Doug McDonald, AICP Discuss the importance of being an active participant in APA and the opportunities the organization presents for career advancement, learning, and leadership skills development.
National Leaders Panel TBD National APA leaders will dive into resources that the national chapter offers and how planners at any level can utilize them to become more adept leaders. 5 minutes reserved for Q&A.
Planing Sector Jeopardy TBD This interactive session will feature professionals from different sectors of planning (municipal, private, non-profit, regional, etc.) who will discuss the similarities and differences in their positions via a ‘Jeopardy’ format. Topics to be covered include how to choose the right planning job as well as differences in how planners engage with the public, elected officials, and clients.


Chapter and Section leaders are encouraged to attend the Forum as an orientation for the current and newly elected APA leaders. Best Practices for successful Section and Chapter leaders will be presented and discussed. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with guest speakers and network with other professionals from across the state. 1.5 CM credits will be available for this Forum.
