The Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association is holding its
ninth annual series of training sessions for Planning Commissioners and
Elected Officials from Texas communities during the months of April
through August 2008. The training is being staffed by professional
planners from the Chapter. The sessions are coordinated with the Texas
Association of Regional Council's local Council of Government offices
and Sections of the Texas Chapter. Courses to be offered
in 2008 include the following topics:
● Introduction to
Planning
● Roles and
Responsibilities of a Planning Commissioner
● A Comprehensive
Plan That Works
●
Planning In
Communities With a Limited Staff
● Tools to Implement Planning
This effort by the Texas Chapter is to bring these
training opportunities closer to the home communities of Commissioners
and elected officials. These workshops provide an opportunity for
the State’s appointed and elected officials to become better informed of
their duties and responsibilities. If you are interested in more
