    This position will lead the City's efforts at revitalization of downtown and support the revitalization of adjacent neighborhoods and commercial corridors through related planning and economic development efforts and activities. 

    The position will be responsible for serving as the liaison between the City and various partners engaged in downtown revitalization. This involves coordinating events, establishing and managing relationships, explaining guidelines and requirements, developing and implementing the City's downtown revitalization policies, and supporting the Boards and Commissions involved in the same.

Jobs Requirements

  • Experience:

    With the appropriate Bachelor's Degree - seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in urban redevelopment or economic development; or,

    With the appropriate Master's Degree - five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in urban redevelopment or economic development is required.

    In addition, an AICP, CEcD, PCED, or similar certification or the ability to secure within one year of employment.

  • Skills:

    Principles and practices of urban planning, knowledge of relevant federal and state law relating to zoning, development, and economic development, principles of urban and downtown redevelopment, ability to network and build/maintain relationships with a variety of organizations and individuals. In addition, the ability to communicate effectively in a written and verbal form, to coordinate events and meetings, management of contracts, and preparation of materials in writing and for publication.

  • Computer Skills:

    Demonstrated knowledge of Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and ESRI ArcGIS.

  • Education Required:

    A Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Economic Development, Public Administration or similar with the required experience; or,

    A Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Economic Development, Public Administration, or similar with the required experience.
