ULI North Texas: Exploring the Value Proposition in Building Healthy Places

ULI North Texas: 3rd Annual What's Next?

Exploring the Value Proposition in Building Healthy Places

Current real estate research shows strong consumer demand for healthy communities-walkable, vibrant, mixed use places designed around transit and green spaces.  Such communities can command from 40 to 100 percent higher sales and lease prices than traditional, car-oriented communities. Integrating health into planning can even become an economic development strategy-a tool to attract a skilled workforce and to build a sustainable economic base.

But where do we look for examples of how to put healthy development concepts into action?  The Urban Land Institute has launched a two year focus on this intersection between health and the built environment, and is ready to lead the way on this topic.

Join us as Keynote Speaker Ed McMahon, ULI's Senior Fellow for Sustainable Development, explores the principles of building for healthier living and the business case for incorporating wellness into development.  Breakout sessions following his address, patterned on ULI's well-known Product Councils, will focus on North Texas developers who are innovators in this new healthy development realm.  All attendees will receive the ULI publication "Building for Wellness: The Business Case, " featuring 13 case studies showing how to successfully put the principles of healthier development into practice.
