The American Institute of Certified Planners and
the APA Texas Chapter encourage those with financial hardships to
become AICP members by taking advantage of the Reduced Exam Fee
Scholarship Program. The November 2010 AICP Exam testing window is
November 8-22. Scholarship recipients pay reduced fees to AICP as
follows:
- First Time AICP applicants: $125 (combined $60 application and
$65 exam fee)
- Previously approved AICP applicants: $65 (exam fee only)

2010 APA Monthly Webcasts
Several APA Chapters and
Divisions have teamed up to sponsor a series of free
monthly webcasts
in 2010 to provide CM credits. Webcasts
participants will need an internet connection and telephone to
access the webcasts.

On-Line Training Offered for Planning for Healthy Places with Health
Impact Assessments
Planning for Healthy Places with Health Impact Assessments is a ‘how
to’ guide for conducting health impact assessments (HIAs), developed
by the American Planning Association and the National Association of
County & City Health Officials, sponsored by the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention. This online course will explain the value of
conducting an HIA and the steps involved in conducting an HIA.
Planning for Healthy Places with Health Impact Assessments qualifies
for six (6) AICP Certification Maintenance credits. This course
takes approximately 6 hours to complete. After finishing the course,
AICP members must complete a course evaluation and report the
credits in their CM log. Access the

Ohio State University AICP Exam Review
The Ohio Chapter of the APA partnered with the City and Regional
Planning program at Ohio State University to develop an online
AICP Exam
Review Course. This course includes audio/video lectures from Ohio State
planning faculty, practice exams, a discussion forum, and reading materials.
The course covers all areas of the AICP exam.

Training Materials Available for Loan to Texas APA Sections |
APA Texas Chapter Purchases CM Training Materials Available
for Loan to Sections
To aid AICP members in obtaining required CM training, the APA Texas
Chapter is acquiring audio-video training materials on CDs,
published by APA and AICP, which are available for loan to Sections
of the Texas Chapter to conduct local training sessions. AICP
members who participate in local training sessions using the CDs may
log their CM credits under the training registered by APA and AICP
on the online CM log. For Sections wanting to borrow a CD package
for conducting a local training session, the Section Director or
Section Professional Development Officer should contact the APA
Texas Chapter Professional Development Officer Marc Kurbansade
at mkurban11@yahoo.com.
Section will be responsible for cost of shipping and return of the
CD. The following CD training packages are currently available:
