Reduced 2013 AICP Exam Fee Reimbursements For the May 2013 Exam

The American Institute of Certified Planners and the APA Texas Chapter encourage those with financial hardships to become AICP members by taking advantage of the Reduced Exam Fee Reimbursement Program.  This program offers assistance to those individuals who may defer taking or are unable to take the AICP exam because of the high cost.  In 2013, the AICP offers three (3) reimbursements for Texas planners taking the May exam.  The APA Texas Chapter will offer three (3) additional reimbursements to Texas planners that plan to take the November exam.  The May 2013 AICP Exam testing window is May 6-20, 2013.  Reimbursement recipients pay reduced fees to AICP as follows:

• First Time AICP applicants:  $135 (combined $70 application and $65 exam fee, a savings of $360 over the regular fee of $495)
• Previously approved AICP applicants: $65 (exam fee only, a savings of $360 over the regular fee of $425)

Reduced AICP Exam Fee Reimbursement Selection Criteria

Applicants must be eligible to take the exam.  Applicants must submit a letter explaining the financial hardship (including financial hardship caused by a budget cutback in a firm or agency), which necessitated the request.  The letter should be no more than two (2) pages and need to include the applicant’s APA membership identification number.  Preference is given to:

• Members of ethnic or racial minorities;
• Applicants who otherwise will be unlikely to take the exam without the reduced fee; or
• Applicants whose employer will not subsidized the exam fee.
