The American Institute of Certified Planners and the APA Texas Chapter encourage those with financial hardships to become AICP members by taking advantage of the AICP Exam Fee Reimbursement Program. This program offers assistance to those individuals who may defer taking or are unable to take the AICP exam because of the high cost. In 2013, the APA Texas Chapter offers three (3) reimbursements for Texas planners taking the November exam. The AICP provided three (3) reimbursements to Texas planners that took the May exam. The November 2013 AICP Exam testing window is November 4-18, 2013.

Reimbursement Amount: $360

The deadline for applying for the three (3) AICP Exam Fee Reimbursements is MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2013, for the November 2013 testing window. Applicants selected to receive the three (3) Texas Chapter Reimbursements will be notified by September 23, 2013.

AICP Exam Fee Reimbursement Selection Criteria
Applicants must be eligible to take the exam. Applicants must submit a letter explaining the financial hardship (including financial hardship caused by a budget cutback in a firm or agency), which necessitated the request. The letter should be no more than two (2) pages and need to include the applicant’s APA membership identification number. Prior to receiving the reimbursement, applicants must provide a copy of their “Authorization to Test” form from Prometrics.

Preference is given to:

  • Members of ethnic or racial minorities;
  • Applicants who otherwise will be unlikely to take the exam without the reimbursement; or
  • Applicants whose employer will not subsidized the exam fee.
